Do You Know Your Continents?

One of my favorite things about Eva being in preschool is getting to notice that she knows things that I and Peter haven't taught her. As in, it is obvious now that there is another stream of knowledge feeding her little life in addition to whatever we, Sunday School and life throw her way. :)

Yesterday we were talking about her address, how we live on North Sawyer, and she got big eyes and said,"North, South, East, West, all around the world." It was obvious that hearing "North" had started her memory onto something else related, so I asked if that phrase was from a song or something that she had learned at school. And then she sang this song, crossed her eyes, and made me smile and laugh, really hard. :)

Monkey and 'Baby Mine' Videos

Videos are back! Yeah! We (aka, Peter), figured out why the video posting option has been absent in the blog posting page for awhile... so now I can post videos once again. Below are few recent favorite vids. There are also a couple older clips from this winter that I need to share as well at some point, but, I will save those for later... This first clip shows Eva wth her new favorite playmate, Mr Monkey. While lambie still remains her *favorite* toy for naps/sleeping/cuddling at night, Mr Monkey is the new daytime toy of choice. Monkey can be seen RIGHT next to Eva at meals, while coloring or playing a game, throwing balls back and forth with us, and being propped up next to any other toy/activity we do. This is a fairly typical interaction between Eva and Monkey... and it cracks me up.

This last video is of Eva coloring with me (Liz), and asking me to help rock Monkey to sleep (another favorte pastime - putting all her animals and dolls to sleep). So I started singing the bedtime song that I often sing to Eva at bedtime to Monkey, and Eva - to my amazement - jumped right in with singing the song! I had never 'taught' her the lyrics and didn't know she knew it enough to sing it, so I grabbed the camera to catch her second round of 'Baby Mine.' It is very sweet for me to hear her sing along to this tune for some reason, probably because I associate it with rocking my little one as she cuddles up in my arms and drifts off to sleep. Since singing Baby Mine she has also started singing along with other household music - what a fun stage!

Eva's Rendition of the Frosty Song

These snippets from the first verse of the 'Frosty the Snowman' song are now a pretty regular sound around our place. Eva will often sing this first thing in the morning (over and over), while standing up in her crib, or anytime she wants to read the Frosty book, or when talking to Grammie and Gramps on skype (the people who gave her said book and sang her the song.) Interestingly, she has also started saying 'call sky' when she wants to call someone online and use skype. I think we have a techno-toddler. :)
